The client utilized a power recline electric wheelchair following a brain stem stroke. The client is able to use her left wrist/hand to drive her power wheelchair. The client wished to be able to enter and exit her home from several points without the assistance of a caregiver. This was accomplished by using sensors at various locations inside and outside of the home. The client could simply move her wheelchair close enough to one of these sensors and activate it with a transmitter which was placed on her wheelchair. This allowed the client to exit the home from at least two barrier free doorways without the assistance of a caregiver during a possible fire within the home. ADT Inc. assisted with endeavor.
