Jeanne M. Halloin is a lighting designer and specifier with Harts Design Inc. She recently retired from Michigan State University where she taught lighting, specifications for commercial interiors, and business practices. Prior to returning to university teaching, Jeanne worked as an interior designer with design and architectural firms in Texas, Georgia and Wisconsin. She is a member of the IESNA (Illuminating Engineering Society of North America) and its “Lighting for the Aged and Partially Sighted” committee, which she has chaired, and which developed the recommended practice ANSI document for lighting visual environments for senior living. She is also working with the National Institute of Building Sciences in the development of ‘low vision’ guidelines for public buildings built with federal funds.
